Viterbo (ITA), 14.02.2026
The 2026 international karting season has kicked off with the debut of the WSK Euro Series at the Leopard Circuit Viterbo. Since 2010, this series has represented a significant milestone in the careers of numerous drivers, offering a high-level technical and competitive environment.

Over 250 drivers from 52 nations
The opening round of the 2026 WSK Euro Series was a resounding success in terms of participation, featuring over 250 drivers from 52 nations. Representing a vast range of geographic regions, these competitors created a truly international sporting atmosphere and delivered a fantastic start to the series, which will conclude with the upcoming events in Lonato (April 18th) and Cremona (July 11th).
Despite challenging weather conditions during the final phase, the racing remained spectacular across all categories—from the youth classes (MINI Under 10, MINI Gr.3, OK-N Junior, and OK-Junior) to the high-performance OK-N, OK, and KZ2 classes—featuring established frontrunners and many emerging talents in the spotlight.

The final phase
While the qualifying heats on Thursday and Friday were held under favorable weather, rain arrived just as the Prefinals began on Saturday. The rainfall was intense at times, creating obvious difficulties for the drivers and leading to a few surprises in the results. During the Finals, it rained only during the OKJ race, though the track remained wet until the end of the event. Despite the conditions, the organization remained perfect at every stage.

The Finals:
KZ2 – Van Werven prevails in the wet.

In a surprising turn of events, the Netherlands' Dion Van Werven (Sodikart – Sodikart/TM Kart/Le Cont) claimed victory in the KZ2 Final. This followed a dominant performance by his teammate, Russia’s Max Orlov, who had controlled the field during the dry heats and secured pole position in qualifying. Orlov had already missed out on a win in the Prefinal due to a collision, a race won by another Sodikart driver, Britain’s Jenson Graham. On the wet asphalt of the Final, Van Werven delivered a great performance to take the top step of the podium, while the other two podium spots went to Graham and Orlov. Fourth place was secured by fellow Russian Gerasim Skulanov (Monster K Factory – Monster K/TM Kart), with Bulgaria's Kaloyan Varbitzaliev finishing fifth to complete another strong showing for Sodikart.

The American Nicola Stanley (MP Academy Gamoto – Henza/TM Kart) secured fourth place following an impressive comeback, finishing ahead of Germany’s Luke Kornder (Ricky Flynn Motorsport – LN Kart/TM Kart). Italy’s Davide Bottaro (Lenovo Kalì Kart – Kalì Kart/TM Kart) rounded out the top six.

Driving for the DR team (DR/Modena Engines/Vega), the Italian driver prevailed with a significant margin. After taking pole position in qualifying, Orlando started the Final from the third row of the grid and fought his way back to claim the win. Following the Italian driver in second place was Slovakia’s Alex Molota (Hagemann Racing – Exprit/TM Kart), winner of Prefinal B, while third place was earned by Ukraine’s Vsevolod Osadchyi-Suslovskyi (Koski Motorsport – KR/Iame). Due to a five-second penalty, Spain’s Daniel Miron Lorente (Fusion Motorsport – KR/Iame) lost his podium spot and was classified fourth, finishing ahead of Finland's Lenni Makinen (MP Kart Racing – Henza/TM Kart) and Brazilian Antonio Pizzonia (Ward Racing – Parolin/TM Kart), who was also handed a five seconds penalty.

He finished ahead of American Wynn Godschalk (Kidix – KR/Iame) and Morocco’s Nahyl El Gahoudi (BabyRace – Parolin/Iame). However, the standings remain sub-judice due to a technical protest filed during one of the heats against Godschalk. Consequently, the podium ceremony could not be held and has been postponed until the results of the protest are determined.
