THE FINAL RACE DAY LIVE IN STREAMING ON SUNDAY 19TH MARCH ON WSK.IT.

WSK QUALIFYING BEGINS IN LA CONCA.

The third round of the WSK Super Master Series began today in Muro Leccese (Lecce, Italy). The first stage of the competition included Qualifying sessions and the first series of Heats; the round is going to be a turning point of the whole international karting Series, which will cross the finishing line on 9th April at the circuit of Sarno (I). There are 213 scrutineered drivers, coming from 5 continents, taking part in the race divided into four different categories: KZ2, OK, OK Junior and 60Mini. They are all aiming at the perfect performance to gain positions in the standings and, thanks to the incremental scoring system which awards more points round after round, they all stand a chance to succeed. There is great uncertainty around the final output of the race, so don’t miss the appointment on Sunday 19th March with the live streaming of the crucial stage of the round. Broadcast will start with the Prefinals at 11.00am on the official website wsk.it.

LAMMERS FENDS OFF HIS OPPONENTS’ ATTACKS IN KZ2.
Good start for the Dutch Bas Lammers (Sodi-TM-Bridgestone), who managed to keep the leadership of the category also in the KZ2 Qualifying. He set the best time with 45”263. Behind him – only 25 milliseconds slower – the Italian Marco Ardigò (Tony Kart-Vortex), followed by another Italian, Lorenzo Camplese (Parolin-TM). Then, in the first Heat, it was the Dutch Jorrit Pex (CRG-TM) who took control of the race, gaining an early lead and crossing the finishing line in first position ahead of Ardigò and of the Czech Patrik Hajek (Kosmic-Vortex). Lammers – who placed fourth – will have the chance to get his payback in tomorrow’s Heats.

GREAT RECOVERY FOR HAUGER IN OK.
In the OK category, the Norwegian Dennis Hauger (CRG-Parilla-Bridgestone) started his personal recovery in La Conca: he achieved the best time with 45”363 ahead of the French Theo Pourchaire (Kosmic-Vortex), who stopped the clock 62 milliseconds later. Behind this pair, the current leader of the category, the British Clement Novalak (Tony Kart-Vortex). Closing the gap from his current 18th place of the Standings is not going to be easy for Hauger, and that’s why he started attacking since the beginning of the round; he won the first Heat ahead of the Italian Travisanutto (Zanardi-Parilla) and the German David Schumacher (Tony Kart-Vortex). Novalak will have to try a counter-attack in tomorrow’s races.

THOMPSON AIMS AT TAKING LEADERSHIP OVER IN OKJ.
Harry Thompson (FA Kart-Vortex-Vega) leads the pack of pursuers in the OK Junior. He set the best time with 46”479, a performance which allowed the Brit to beat into second position the current leader, the Italian Andrea Rosso (Tony Kart-Vortex), who was 318 milliseconds slower. Third position for the Dutch Kas Haverkort (CRG-Parilla). The first heat was particularly gripping: Thompson was still the best and won ahead of the English Johnny Edgar (Exprit-TM) and the Italian Giuseppe Fusco (EvoKart-LKE), while Rosso was forced to stop after only a lap. It is still all at stake in tomorrow’s heats.

ANTONELLI KEEPS AT BAY HIS RIVALS IN 60MINI.
The Italian Andrea Antonelli (Tony Kart-Vortex-Vega) is aiming at maintaining the leadership of the 60Mini; he set the fastest lap with 52”595, 68 milliseconds faster than the Italian Gabriele Minì (Parolin-TM), second ahead of the Chinese Cenyu Han (Energy-TM). Antonelli will take part in tomorrow’s heats, but in the meantime Minì and Han won today’s races, ahead of the Brazilian Rafael Camara (BirelArt-TM) and the Russian Miran Pingasov (CRG-TM) respectively.
