DRIVERS SET THE FIRST TIMES FOLLOWED BY WSK PROMOTION CAMERAS AT THE WSK GOLD CUP.
First racing day on the circuit of Adria (Rovigo, Italy), where the last sessions of qualifying of the WSK Gold Cup took place. The free practice of the morning gave way to qualifying for the KZ2, KF and KF Junior categories. The 60 Mini, the fourth category admitted to the race, will get on track tomorrow morning, before the official beginning of the heats. The 130 scrutineered drivers opened the event on this brand-new circuit in Adria. This time, too, the event is promoted by WSK Promotion, the very same promoter that, at the beginning of November, officially opened the facility with the last event of the 2014 season. The Adria Karting Raceway is, once again, the venue of an international kart racing event. The Gold Cup is a one-day tournament which will end Sunday evening. However, this time there are going to be two consecutive racing weekends in Adria: from next Friday 6th March, in fact, the facility set in Cavanella Po will host the first out of four rounds of the WSK Super Master Series. In the meanwhile, the WSK Promotion cameras have already been deployed along the 1,302 metres of the circuit. The live streaming of the race will start on Sunday 1st March: images of all the races of the final day will be available on wsk.it.
FLAVIO CAMPONESCHI ISSUES THE CHALLENGE IN KZ2.
Flavio Camponeschi (Tony Kart-Vortex-Vega) bids for the trophy: he aims at being one of the protagonists of the 2015 season in KZ2. The driver from Rome leads the pack in qualifying thanks to his 47”365. He will be the pole-sitter in tomorrow’s heats. He was over a tenth of a second faster than his team-mate Marco Ardigò’s performance in the last WSK Final Cup, which took place here last November. Ardigò, at the moment, seems to be observing his opponents: the Italian set the third time with 47”450, behind a rather performing Lorenzo Camplese (Formula K-Parilla-Vega), second with 47”431. Excellent performance also for the Spanish Jorge Pescador (Praga-Parilla-Vega), fourth with 47”453, while the following positions were taken by the other favourites of the category: Stan Pex (Intrepid-TM-Vega), Jonathan Thonon (Praga-Parilla-Vega), Jorrit Pex (Intrepid-TM-Vega) and Bas Lammers (Formula K-Parilla-Vega)
LEONARDO LORANDI SWEEPS THE BOARD IN KF.
The Italian Leonardo Lorandi (Tony Kart-Vortex-Vega) was the real surprise of the day: he set the fastest time in KF with 48”077. Behind him, the Danish Casper Roes (FA Alonso-Vortex-Vega) confirms to be in top shape: thanks to his 48”086, he beat in third and fourth position
the favourite pair of the category, the Danish Nicklas Nielsen (Tony Kart-Vortex-Vega, 48”087) and the Polish Karol Basz (Kosmic-Vortex-Vega, 48”114). Also the English Max Fewtrell (FA Alonso-Vortex-Vega) and the Russian Alexander Vartanyan (Tony Kart-Vortex-Vega), fourth and fifth, will stand a good chance in tomorrow’s heats.
CLEMENT NOVALAK SURPRISINGLY LEADS IN KFJ.
In KFJ, the category of the emerging talents, the British Clement Novalak (Tony Kart-Vortex-Vega) took the lead of qualifying with 49”697. Excellent performance also for the Russian Shvetsov (Tony Kart-Vortex-Vega), second and 0”193 behind the leader. A very narrow gap, as narrow as the gap of his countryman, Artem Petrov (DR-TM-Vega), who took the third position, 0”246 behind the pole-sitter. At the moment, the Danish Christian Lundgaard (Tony Kart-Vortex-Vega), the protagonist of the WSK events at the beginning of the season in Muro Leccese, is only fourth. The first two heats of the weekend took place at the end of today's programme and were won by Petrov and Shvetsov.
LEONARDO MARSEGLIA IS GETTING READY IN 60 MINI.
In the free practice of the 60 Mini, the Italian Leonardo Marseglia (CRG-LKE-Vega) was the fastest in three out of the five sessions in schedule today. In the other sessions, best times for the Norwegian Dennis Hauger (CRG-LKE-Vega) and the Italian Giuseppe Fusco (Tony Kart-LKE-Vega). Tomorrow the heats, immediately after qualifying.
